UHS MANATEE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL ED

Crisdel Group Inc., started a fast track contract with Turner Construction, and commenced work immediately.  Safety of an active hospital, personnel, doctors, nurses, EMT, patients, and visitors is a major concern with UHS and Turner.  Crisdel Project Team worked closely with the Project Management Team and accommodated the safety corridors through active work zones.  Challenges included removal of existing utilities from the new expanded building envelope, without impacting the daily fast track building construction.  Major items include existing sanitary and storm systems still serving the hospital, as well as installation of new systems.  In order to accommodate scheduling for fast tracking the building construction scope of work, Crisdel’s value engineering recommendation for site work construction was approved, which allowed for building foundation and structural steel for the building to be completed within the aggressive scheduling requirements.

Major Work Items:  Clearing and grubbing, removal of existing pavement, concrete curb, sidewalk and all above ground facilities. Install & maintain Soil Erosion Control devices, earthwork, grading of expanded building envelope, install new sanitary system, storm system, concrete curb, concrete sidewalk, new asphalt pavement, striping and signage.
