ELLIS ISLAND POWERHOUSE & PARKING AREA SITE IMPROVEMENTS
PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS
Crisdel Group installed a soil stabilizer for the Ellis Island employee and US Park Police parking lots to eliminate dust and strengthen the subgrade. A milling machine was used to till the existing parking lot subgrade to ensure that the soil stabilizer would properly mix into the subgrade material. A water truck was then used to evenly spray the soil stabilizer throughout the area, which was then graded and compacted to cure. Crisdel Group and its subcontractor worked together to install 975 LF of concrete curb and 2,200 SF of various concrete pads. Crisdel Group and Kiewit worked together to improve drainage within the parking lot areas by improving grade elevations and ensuring proper slope was met at all areas. 1,300 tons of asphalt was placed in 2 shifts to avoid the upcoming winter weather and to minimize the impact on the Ellis Island employees and US Park Police.
Major Work Items: Fine Grading – 1,500 SY; Soil Stabilization Installation – 6,000 SY; Concrete Curbs & Pads; Asphalt Pavement – 1,300 Tons
